Susie in Shanghai

Welcome to my website! After graduating from Georgetown University this past May, I am taking the summer to travel to Shanghai before I attend graduate school. The goal of my website is to blog about the adventures I have and the things I learn while abroad.

My specific goal this summer is to gain insight into the life science sector since I am going to be completing a masters degree in biotechnology next year.  I will be conducting research on therapeutics, intellectual property protection, research tools, and private equity. Part of this will include interviewing thought leaders in each of these sectors as well as completing my own independent research. Since I plan to enter the life science industry in a year, when I finish my masters degree, I hope to gain insight on the field as well as obtain useful advice about my career path–what industries are really heating up, what would be some useful experience for me, and what are some great opportunities for entrepreneurship.

I have done a fair amount of traveling in the past including working in an oligonucleotide laboratory in Bangalore, India and immersing myself in Spanish language while in Costa Rica and Argentina. However, China is a completely new experience and I hope, a beneficial one. I have a feeling it will be the perfect way to gain exposure to one of the most vibrant markets in the entire world.

Oh and one goal I almost forgot…to have an amazing time!
